City Highs

This large roof terrace boasted wonderful views over London but was a barren and unwelcoming space.

The design featured beautiful hardwood decked areas which linked to the existing wooden floors within the apartment. The decking helped to ‘zone’ the terrace into a main dining space and a more informal L-shaped seating area.

The surrounding space was filled with slate chippings through which decked squares provided stepping stones. The clean and contemporary theme was carried through to the planting which featured Olive trees, pineapple guavas and lavender, all of which are well adapted to the arid and windy conditions on the terrace. The tall planting was also used to frame the main view to the front whilst screening the less desirable side aspect.
